Betsy letterpresses her own wedding invitations at Portland's Independent Publishing Resource Center - IPRC. Melissa Mednick furnishes the tunes. While Brian & Betsy's cute pup Jack gives his support, throughout. Editing & camera work by Amber decelle. "Filming Betsy print her wedding invitations on one of the old letterpress machines at Portlands Independent Publishing Resource Center - IPRC, on Thursday, was very inspiring. Those machines look to be around an hundred years old. There are a bunch of steps in the process. Betsy had already added her handmade block print of a green-tree motif onto the papers, at home. Now for the lettering. First she checked to make sure the metal letters were properly aligned, mixed up the ink, spread it out, carefully placed papers and padding. Ready? Pull the handle and presto, um, kinda, theres still the messy cleanup of all of that gooey ink afterward! Not to mention, the borders and logo, but that's for another day. Theres a ton of work that goes into a wedding invitation project, but Betsy estimates shell save around $1000 dollars. If you think youd like to try your own printing project, checkout Portlands, iprcs class schedule. The folks over there are super nice, and the classes are reasonably priced."
